cafe hops: JWC the factory 30.

hello you,

Everyone who knows me knows I’m not a coffee person, and I’m not that big on nice, quaint cafes and all. But then, I love to eat, and well I sort of grew vainer and vainer, so nowadays I do enjoy going to nice, quaint, little cafes with nice backdrop so I get to take good OOTD shots! Shallow like that la.

However, my perception of cafes have changed, mainly because most of the cafes here in JB starts serving food. Let me digress a little, I’m very particular about the word ‘food’. Food to me has to be in proper (big enough to satiate my hunger kinda proper) portions, I don’t count a side of fries as food, that is called finger food or snacks. Food has to be at the very least sandwiches or burgers WITH sides of fries or chips or anything la. Basically it has to be entrée size.

Okay back to my point, therefore I will be writing about cafes in JB based on food and not so much, ok honestly, I won't write about coffee at all. I don’t believe in writing about things that I’ve no knowledge about, and how will I be able to sound convincing if I don’t even have a basic idea of the difference between espresso or latte or macchiato? So, food it is. I’m focusing on the food in cafes, I mean after all, we all gotta eat right?

The super vain me insist on having my OOTD shot in the facade of the cafe, it's a no brainer because the name of the cafe is already written on the gate itself. Here I am, at Just Want Coffee the Factory 30.

Like the name suggests, this whole cafe is located in the industrial area in Mount Austin, they basically revamped a factory space into a cafe. I like the interior, the fact that it's rugged meets hippie attracts me to no end. But then, take my opinion with a pinch of salt because I'm not that particular with interior design. But it still looks very cool, very minimalist, just the way I like it. The menu is in the form of a manual (SOP geddit geddit?) its thick and very precise, with the front focusing on their quality of their coffee and beans but I won't go into that. You guys can take a look at it when you're there!

The famous LED lights that everyone would take a pic of when they visit, but I didn't. Because it was pretty packed when I went and as thick-skinned as I can be, a bit paiseh la to pose there and all.

Okay, enough of the interiors.

Our drinks! The coffee in the martini glass is called Martini Shakerato, according to my friend, it's not bad. Then there's the iced chocolate and fruit juice, the boyf's and mine respectively. Nothing fancy about this la.

Then there's the waffle that JWC is popular for. I'm not a waffle fan (I like the RM2 at the outside stalls better, where you can have nutella and PB as fillings) but the colour and texture is good. So if you like fanciful waffle, you'll like this!

My main reason for going and writing about JWC the factory 30!!! I love bagel, my love for bagel is undying. Don't take me so seriously, I use this phrase rather loosely. Upon knowing that JWCtF30 serves bagel, I knew I had to go. I've tried three different styles of bagel as of now, I will finish trying them all, I'm dead serious.

The above picture is bagel with mushroom and sausage with side of eggs sous vide (which is really just half boiled eggs), not exactly my favourite, thought it doesn't really go well with the bagel. The egg sous vide was not impressive at all, maybe I'm just biased, don't really like food with extravagant names.

On my second trip there, I tried bagel with scrambled eggs. It's simple and I love it. I specially requested for my bagel to be toasted a little longer, so it's crispier and harder, just the way I like it! Some days you just want your food simple, this is it. Pure, simple goodness.

This is bagel with BBQ chicken skewers. This is my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE. Poppy seed bagel toasted well (though it could still be a little crispier and harder, gosh I'm hard to please) and please let me have a minute to reminisce the taste of the BBQ fried chicken. It was SOOOOOO good! The sauce is done just right, not too salty, the chicken is tender and juicy and it was marinated so it had so many different layers of taste! I'm definitely going back for more after this.

The tortilla chips is also my favourite, actually anything chips is my favourite, but it goes well with the sauce they provided? It's not mayo but I could taste a little thousand island in it. I can't confirm, but I'll go back and try it again! Any excuse to go back right? Though next on my bagel list is the pesto chicken one, curious to know how they combine pesto sauce with bagels.

Okay, that's all (for now) for JWC the Factory 30. This is not a sponsored post, JWC did not pay me to write this. I won't call this a review either, but more of a sharing of my experience and thoughts. Please pardon the pictures quality as well, they are all taken with my iPhone, so yeah. Any of you who has been to JWC, feel free to comment on what you like about them or what you think I've missed out on.

And oh, please do share with me any other place that serves good bagel! Thank you many many in advance!

till the next pig out,
june.
